White Finger Invitations

Departing train station of Anduze

Regular readers of the Vie du Rail know that the art film owes much to the existence of the railway.

A fairly recent video, shot in a train of the Cevennes, resoundingly confirms the correctness of this remark:

We see that this little film interweaves with great elegance of many references to classic rail of the seventh art, The Arrival of a Train at La Ciotat station (1895) Those who to me like to take the train (1998), by the way, obviously, by The Human Beast (1938).

But it noted the provision of a very handsome cowboy postmodern unsheathed his gas that made all the success of this short film.

Action!

The original idea is due to the very creative Mr. Max Roustan, UMP deputy mayor of Ales, and president of the Urban Community of Greater Ales. He wanted to enhance the presentation ceremony of his wishes for a little tourist trip and he decided to borrow, with some guests, Cevennes steam train . A number of residents and elected representatives of the community of municipalities around Anduze ( 2C2A ) that Mr. Roustan would like to relate to "his" Grand Alès felt this scenario as a provocation " and decided to disrupt conduct by blocking the symbolic tourist train in their station.

The beginning of the film makes quite well the atmosphere peaceful and good natured of the protest. Antagonists ignore or greet, discuss or intersect the floor, but do not exchange or invective or wallop ...

blocking the railway track is then staged in some allegorical, with a good first line scheduling of extras wearing the tricolor sash and a harmonious combination of hoary heads in the second line. Brandished a placard just accentuates the symmetry of the scene, and a few slogans furnish the background. A ranking

of the gendarmerie greets senior politicians. It finds no animosity in this handshake.

One of these elected officials on track, Mr. Alain Beaud, Socialist Mayor of Saint-Sébastien-d'Aigrefeuille 2C2A and President, said:

People gathered in front of the locomotive. The commander of the Gendarmerie d'Alès, Frederick Warion, meets us and asks us our intentions, which is traditional. We say we do not wish to stop the train to leave, just to show our displeasure by giving a delay of about five to fifteen minutes. When this period is elapsed, he said he comes to take us by the arm, then a departure. This message is passed to the protesters, waiting.

" And suddenly," our beautiful cowboy (because it was him ...), without warning, " starts gassing everyone .

Something went wrong in the implementation stage, and we see a police officer who embarks on a number of actors well beyond his role ... Then came a dismal fight sequence set incorrectly, with scenes of violence but unnecessary regulations, and extras in uniform apparently surprised by the course taken by events and unable to improvise anything other than batons.

It is quite instructive on this intervention of the commander, take professional advice. The subject was proposed on the Cops & Citizens Forum , it says a lot of reactions. Despite the great moderation of this forum, caution stakeholders, and the fact that many seem to, in thought and expression, more policemen than citizens, it seems that the action of the squadron commander was pretty generally deprecated , even if only as "lamentable managing a peaceful demonstration "(sic). Throughout the pages, you'll win will, in the comments, to share things not shown on the video, and especially the desire not to degrade the image of the institution .

few more pages and discussion will no longer turn around that want to hide that the two assemblies that were posted by Edmond Zimmermann, even accuse him of having made an underhanded manipulation. If I believe in what he says in his blog Reboussier , his opponents do not deny it ... Contacted by journalists World Edmond Zimmermann assured them he would file, in a bailiff, rushes to his video so they are " available of justice." He added:

"There are a total of twenty minutes of tape, I cut because it's too long but there is no basis to cheat or showing any violence."

The second star of the day.

It does not appear that the constabulary has been taken to task by the demonstrators. Constable cévenol may be placid, but if he feels, rightly or wrongly, attacked, or overwhelmed, he replies. The images shown widely disseminated. Yet until technical gesture of the commander, everyone stays quiet ... The

zimportantes personalities - " twenty elect who were expected by the public in the hall of Saint-Jean-du-Gard " - who were in the train would they have been threatened with something other than a delay in timing their precious ?

This seems to creep into this insistence to report the stoning of the train and the subsequent degradation of " the locomotive, which is classified a historical monument .

Say throwing stones could have taken place off camera, after the rise in car personalities and the train departs. Suppose even that devious villain Edmund Zimmermann has edited out the ... We can then ask what were the gendarmes, arms crossed on the dock, instead of racing thugs caillasseurs and protect the "historic monument .

As to what followed the action of the squadron leader, it seems to only be the result of this unacceptable act.

It's not just sheep in the Cevennes.

PS: The world tells us this :

The chief of the gendarmerie on Thursday urged the opening of an administrative investigation of the General Inspectorate of the Gendarmerie. The aim is to "shed light " on January 21 event in which participants say they were abused by the police (...). In addition, a Socialist elected, having participated in demonstrations, says that 30 complaints were being prepared.

And Liberation, one can read this testimony :

" was a symbolic way to express our discontent. A media stunt. We just wanted to delay the train, nothing more , "says Louis Julian. A commander of the gendarmerie has formally ordered the demonstrators to return to the dock. "What I did . And then, suddenly, without warning, the captain pulled out a spray and sprayed lacrymo people at close range. There were elderly, children, it was very violent. At one point, the captain dropped the can at my feet, I tried to pick it up and throw away. Three or four policemen surrounded me then and threw me six or seven punches in Figure , "he says.

Finally, lemonde.fr has posted all the images recorded by Edmond Zimmermann and details the testimony of Louis Julian.
